For those traveling by air, the City is served by LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), both in Queens, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in neighboring New Jersey. LaGuardia airport primarily serves domestic destinations, with a small number of flights to and from selected Canadian and Caribbean destinations. Kennedy and Newark airports each serve both domestic and international destinations. All three airports provide access to the City via taxis, buses, subways and trains. Other metropolitan area airports include Stewart International Airport (SWF), Westchester Airport (HPN) and MacArthur Airport (ISP).

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

This airport is New York's largest, serving more than 75 primarily international airlines. It is approximately 15 miles from midtown Manhattan. Getting to midtown Manhattan from JFK:
• Taxi: $45 flat fee (non-metered) plus bridge and tunnel tolls and gratuity; 30 to 60 minutes to midtown Manhattan. 212-NYC-TAXI
AirTrain JFK: $5 (children under 5 free); 60 to 90 minutes to Midtown and upper Manhattan. Around the airport, AirTrain is free.
• Subway: $7 ($2 for the subway plus $5 for the AirTrain); 60 to 75 minutes to midtown Manhattan from the A subway line at the Howard Beach station or the E, J, Z subway lines at Jamaica station
• Public Bus: $2 (free transfer from subway); 60 to 75 minutes to midtown Manhattan on Q10 bus
• Shuttle bus options: AirLink New York, New York Airport Service and SuperShuttle
• Car rental companies at JFK include Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and National

LaGuardia Airport (LGA)

This is New York's second-largest airport, with more than 20 airlines serving mostly domestic destinations, Canada and the Caribbean from five passenger terminals. It is on the northern shore of Queens, directly across the East River about nine miles from midtown Manhattan. Getting to Manhattan from LaGuardia:
• Taxi: Metered fare; $16 to $26 plus bridge and tunnel tolls and gratuity; 20 to 25 minutes to midtown Manhattan. 212-NYC-TAXI
• Public Bus: $2; 60 to 75 minutes to the Upper West Side via direct service on the M60 bus; for subway connections, board the Q33 bus and disembark at the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue subway station; add another 15 to 20 minutes for subway into Midtown.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

Newark Airport, with nearly 40 airlines (many of them international), is across the Hudson River from New York City, 16 miles and 45 to 60 minutes from Midtown. Getting to Manhattan from the airport:
• City of Elizabeth Taxi and Limousine Commission (908-820-4178) serves Terminal A; City of Newark Taxi and Limousine Commission (973-733-8912) serves Terminals B and C. Fares to midtown Manhattan range from $40 to $60 (not including tolls and tip); fare to JFK from Newark $75 plus toll and driver’s return trip toll; fare to LaGuardia from Newark $65 plus toll.
AirTrain: costs vary according to destination; 60 to 90 minutes to midtown Manhattan. AirTrain Newark is the rail connection to Newark Liberty International Airport. AirTrain Newark provides easy connections to the NJ Transit and Amtrak rail services from Newark Liberty International Airport. Around the airport, AirTrain is free. Look for signs marked "Monorail/AirTrain Link." Note: Do not follow signs for Ground Transportation.

Stewart International Airport (SWF)

Stewart International Airport is just 60 miles north of New York City and offers modern amenities, comfortable size and easy access to roads and public transportation. Getting to Manhattan from SWF:
• Newburgh-Beacon-Stewart commuter bus is served by Leprechaun Lines.
Metro-North Railroad provides direct service to Grand Central Terminal in New York City from the Beacon, NY, train station. Travel time is approximately 70 to 110 minutes depending on the time of day.
