Free outdoor film screenings are a joy of New York summers, and the Bryant Park series is particularly lovely. The movies start at dusk, but locals start trickling over when the park's lush grassy lawn opens at 5pm—many folks are still in their work clothes and just head over straight from the office with take-out food and blankets in tow. (Follow suit and arrive early: the lawn gets pretty crowded by sundown.) Kramer vs. Kramer, The Magnificent Seven and Close Encounters of the Third Kind round out the remainder of the festival's Monday-night movies.
