Famed anthropologist Margaret Mead, a longtime curator at the American Museum of Natural History, lends her name to this festival of international documentary filmmaking. Featuring a wide range of films that use the medium as Mead herself did—to explore the potential for cross-cultural exploration and dialogue—the 2009 festival includes films with ties to the museum’s exhibition Traveling the Silk Road.
