description/

A common Victorian cure for "hysteria" was the machine we now call a vibrator, to be used by a doctor to bring the patient to a "paroxysm," a state we know by quite a different name today. This historical comedy explores love, marriage and the meaning of intimacy in the life of one of the first doctors to practice this hysteria cure, and his wife, who begins a voyage of self-discovery after using the machine.
