description/
This retrospective of Alice Guy Blaché films showcases the work of the first female film director—and the first woman to run her own film studio. Blanché was a pioneer of modern cinema: over the course of 24 years, she wrote, directed, produced and/or supervised the production of more than 1,000 films in a variety of genres (from comedies to westerns to a biblical epic). Only roughly 130 of them survive today. This exhibition is the first comprehensive retrospective of Blaché's work.
