For the third time, New York City plays host to Performa, the biennial of visual art performance, with tons of new and premiere performances to get excited about. Works commissioned by Performa 09 include a twin-centric piece by Candice Breitz; the festival also has the premiere of Tacita Dean’s feature-length film which contains choreographer Merce Cunningham’s last onscreen appearance. From Castle Clinton to P.S.1, with many sites in between, innovative art performances inundate the City for three glorious weeks.
