It's the 21st century, and we have more tools than ever with which to discover new bands. But all the Spotifys, Pandoras and SoundClouds in the world can't equal the impact of live music. In that spirit, this October brings a bounty of live music to the five boroughs, thanks to the CMJ Music Marathon—back for its 33rd year—and the CBGB Festival, which will immediately precede CMJ (and whose film lineup is as robust as its musical offerings). Read on for our show picks, plus more on music in NYC.
