Cheap Chic: 9 NYC Vintage Stores

Fille De Joie
"Vintage makes a lot of sense these days, which is why I'm doing the world a favor," says this Williamsburg shop's unabashed and stylish owner, C.C. McGurr. Step into her French boudoir–inspired store and you'll be inclined to believe her. Almost everything is for sale at Fille De Joie—from the plush couches to the ladder leaning against the wall to the dirty magazines you thought were there for decoration. Clothes are color-coded throughout, pumps and booties line the floor and a rainbow of clutches and handbags are scattered on and around tables and shelves. As an added bonus, Fille De Joie offers an affordable ($15 to $30 per piece) line of candy-couture jewelry, made in-house with materials imported from Japan.
What's in store: Prada shoes, Dior cocktail gowns, Chanel scarves, Michael Kors cashmere, sequined stretch tube tops, coquettish nighties…and vintage Playboys.
Price range: Winter inventory is currently 20% off, but generally most items run from $50 to $100. (Gowns, fur coats and imported leather totes, of course, sell for much higher.) But don't forget—C.C. wants you to be happy, so "if you don't like the price, you can always argue with me."
