Free movie screenings are an annual New York City summertime tradition. Films are screened all over the five boroughs, frequently outdoors, with cityscape backdrops like the Coney Island Cyclone and Lower Manhattan skyline adding to the experience. Cinephiles will love this summer's offerings, which include everything from blockbusters like The Lego Movie and cult favorites like Monty Python and the Holy Grail to a whole lot of Back to the Future Part II (you may recall Marty's trip to the year 2015 in that flick).

Below is a schedule of free film screenings throughout the City, organized by day of the week. Unless otherwise noted, all take place outside and start at sundown, typically around 8:30pm. So grab a blanket, bring some snacks and enjoy cinema in the open air.

Check back frequently for updates.
