If knocking down pins and munching on cheese fries sounds right up your family's alley, these kid-friendly lanes should spare the group from rainy-day boredom.

During the day (before 5pm on weekdays and 7pm on weekends), Manhattan's Lucky Strike Lanes is an all-ages venue. Younger bowlers get assistance from ramps and bumpers inside this sleek Hell's Kitchen space.

Brooklyn's Melody Lanes delivers a more toned-down bowling experience (think glow bowling and an arcade room) in Sunset Park. Best of all, on Friday nights from 5 to 7pm, families pay $17 per person for two games and shoes, plus young bowlers can snack on complimentary popcorn and soda.

Over in Queens, Astoria Bowl helps families strike a deal with $2.75 games for bowlers 16 and under, while Jib Lanes offers a bargain snack, shoes and bowling package and a surprisingly inventive menu for a bowling alley: between frames, snack on spring rolls, grilled pesto chicken and taco pizza.

In Staten Island, spend the afternoon at Showplace Entertainment Center, where an impressive arcade and 32 lanes of bowling should keep antsy kids occupied for hours.
