Cheap Chic: 9 NYC Vintage Stores
by Laura Kusnyer, 03/16/2009
A colorful addition to a sleepy Astoria street (31st Avenue, naturally), Loveday 31's cutesy name is appropriate given its Skittles-colored interior and affable employees. Union Jack prints flank the entrance, which opens into a clothing-packed space where the few ladies it can hold bop their heads to Brit-invasion tunes that spill from the speakers.
What's in store: Mainly pieces from the '80s, but '60s mod and '70s disco have their place here as well. Dresses and boots rule at Loveday, along with a slew of flirty peacoats.
Price range: Dresses run between $45 and $65, and you'll be hard-pressed to find anything over $100. (The shop's employees pride themselves on having all the goods of Manhattan, but at lower prices.)
