With all the things to see and do around Jamaica Bay, it's easy to work up an appetite. Thankfully, the waterfront expanse features plenty of dining options—from sit-down restaurants to casual stands—that will keep you fueled all day long, no matter how you choose to spend your time there. While some are best reached by car or bike, those who travel by subway are never far from the area's edibles. Though much of the boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, the Department of Parks & Recreation has built sections of boardwalk spanning areas where there are food vendors, at 86th Street (open beginning Memorial Day weekend), 97th Street (open July 1) and 106th Street (open mid-June).

The food offerings on the boardwalk include sandwiches at Lobster Joint, arepas from Caracas, drinks at Low Tide Bar and more.
