Just as the opening of the City's ice-skating rinks and the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree iconically mark the arrival of the holiday season in New York, so does the revealing of the Barneys windows. And this year it's Gaga, in more ways than one. The Lady has remade Santa's workshop into her very own, and it's set to take over the holiday window displays and, for the first time, an entire floor of the store. And, though perhaps less whimsical, Black Friday sales will follow Thanksgiving, beginning the busiest season of shopping. Expect even more exhibitions, events, store openings and special sales to crop up as the month goes on, so remember to check back for additions and updates.

Sporting Life
The Museum at FIT, Seventh Avenue and West 27th Street, 212-217-4558
With the constant convergence of fashion and art, and a recent influx of foodie couture (remember Simon Doonan's elaborate ode to celebrity chefs and cuisine in Barneys' last holiday windows?), it's easy to take other style mergers for granted, especially those that are effortlessly woven into our everyday lives. But with Sporting Life, The Museum at FIT reminds us of an important one. The exhibition explores how active sportswear and fashion have influenced each other—in silhouette, textile and more—over the past 150 years.

The exhibition, which opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2009, includes more than 250 extraordinary pieces by Jones, Philip Treacy and Bill Cunningham.
