While New York City is a hub for great movies all year round, the fall features a wide range of film festivals whose lineups—from glittering, A-list premieres to the newest, scariest horror films—celebrate the diversity of the medium. Autumn's offerings include Doc NYC, which has the latest in nonfiction features and shorts; the ever-expanding New York Television Festival, highlighting "indie television" and digital content in addition to panels and workshops on the burgeoning medium; and the biggest of them all, the New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center, which runs for two weeks with dozens of films in multiple programs. For more information about these festivals and others, read on.
