Creative energy fills the five boroughs each day of the year as innovative minds from every facet of the design world make their mark on New York City's cultural and artistic landscape. From May 10 to 21, their talents take center stage when NYCxDESIGN brings together architects, graphic designers, fashion-world entrepreneurs, furniture craftsmen and the like for 12 days of engaging exhibitions, talks, installations and studio sessions. Highlights of the citywide event include the Frieze New York art fair on Randalls Island, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and local furnishing and home accessories exhibition BKLYN DESIGNS at St. Ann's Warehouse. Woven throughout these key festivals will be events at museums, studios, parks and schools that provide an inside look into the City's many design communities. Explore the women's fashions of early-20th-century Shanghai at the Museum of Chinese in America, get immersed in a video game conference at Cobble Hill's The Invisible Dog Art Center or discover the artistry behind gardening and building design at the Bronx's Wave Hill. And in between the happenings, get to know the exciting neighborhoods that make up the design capital of the world, among them the Meatpacking District, Chinatown, Long Island City and Lower Manhattan.
