  • Among the biggest news in NYC arts and culture this winter is the long-awaited return of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. We've seen it post-renovation, and the newly high-tech destination is worth the wait. The rest of the season's offerings have much in common with the spruced-up Cooper Hewitt: new wrinkles luring you back to old favorites. Giraffe calves at the Bronx Zoo, for example. New American Songbook, Metropolitan Opera and City Ballet programs at Lincoln Center. The Brooklyn Abolitionists exhibition at the Brooklyn Historical Society. These are just a few of the reasons to revisit your favorite NYC cultural institutions this winter. Read on for details of those and more.
