No municipality is home to more up-and-coming bands than New York City, and WNYC's talent competition seeks to determine once and for all which borough in our rocktropolis (not to mention hip-hoptropolis, DJ-opolis and, yes, cello-opolis) is the most musically proficient of all. First, the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space will host a series of shows crowning the champion of each borough. Then, the competition will reach its apex when the five borough winners face off against one another for bragging rights and a featured concert, professional recording session and photo shoot. The price of each Battle of the Boroughs show even includes a complimentary drink and snacks—and the universal appeal of free food is something about which all five boroughs can agree, even in the heat of a melodious mêlée.
