description/
While not as well known as either, Green-Wood Cemetery predates both Central Park and Prospect Park. It was considered one of the most important public green spaces in 19th-century America. In honor of the cemetery's 175th anniversary, this exhibition explores the cemetery's role in a growing trend of rural cemeteries and public parks. Among the artists whose works are featured in the cemetery's monuments and statues are Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Richard Upjohn and Warren & Wetmore, designers of Grand Central Terminal.
