The third leg of the Triple Crown—by far the area's biggest horse-racing event—takes place in Elmont (yes, that's Elmont, just east of Queens—not Belmont, the Bronx neighborhood), New York. The festival lasts three days, culminating with the Belmont Stakes on Saturday—for which it cost only $15 to sit in the grandstand last year. There's also live entertainment during the festival. Excitement is always in the air, and sometimes there's history as well; the 2015 winner, American Pharoah, became the first horse to capture the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.
