In a city of islands, the Bronx stands out as NYC's emissary to the mainland. Perhaps that attachment to the rest of the continent is what's responsible for the Bronx's distinctive flavor and its quiet charisma. No matter the origins of its charms, each year, the City comes together to give the home of hip-hop (not to mention the Yankees and the finest assortment of art deco apartment buildings in the world) its due. Bronx Week, a tradition for more than 40 years, celebrates the borough with a parade, festivals, live music, a unique trolley tour and, of course, the induction of the latest additions to the Bronx Walk of Fame. This year's schedule hasn't been released, but check ilovethebronx.com for updates.
