Bryant Park Pétanque
October 27, 2010 – ongoing
Bryant Park

Manhattan, NY 10110
description/
Hone your lawn-bowling skills every weekday from 11am to 6pm (weather permitting) with free lessons given by La Boule New Yorkaise, a local club for pétanque lovers. In case you're wondering, pétanque is a French game in which players throw metal balls ("boules," en Française), trying to get them as close as possible to a smaller wooden ball (the "cochonnet," en pétanque). And if that description reminds you a little of bocce, well, that's understandable—but note that Bryant Park doesn't offer it. For bocce, you'll want to try two of Brooklyn's fine drinking establishments—Floyd, NY and Union Hall. Visit bryantpark.org for more information.
