Considering the Quake: Seismic Design on the Edge
February 13 – May 26, 2014
Center for Architecture
536 LaGuardia Pl. (at Bleecker St.)
Manhattan, NY 10012
Take an intriguing peek into the intersection of cutting-edge architecture and science—the world of earthquake-proof building construction. This exhibit gives visitors the chance to see what goes into building an earthquake-resistant structure, like the Taipei Performing Arts Center, and even gives them a chance to get up close and personal with seismic technology, like a 500N Shaking Table, which is pretty much what it sounds like, and a must-have for seismically sensitive engineering.
