Each fall the Queens County Farm Museum runs a series of family-friendly, harvest-themed events. First up is the 34th annual Queens County Fair on September 24 and 25, with blue-ribbon competitions in livestock, produce and arts and crafts, not to mention pie-eating contests, hayrides and live music. On weekends through the end of October, enjoy the labyrinth-like Amazing Maize Maze, pick pumpkins and sample New York apples. The season within a season finishes with the Children’s Fall Festival on October 30, featuring kids’ games, bounce houses, pig races and a petting zoo. For more information, visit queensfarm.org.
