description/

Gilded New York, the story of the wealth and opulence that marked the end of the 19th century in New York City, is the inaugural exhibition in the museum's new Tiffany & Co. Foundation Gallery.

The exhibition includes costumes, jewelry, portraits and other decorative items that date to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and showcase a time when the Fifth Avenue mansions and hotels served as showcases for the wealth of the new American aristocracy. This era also marked New York's rise to international prominence, thanks to its role as America's corporate headquarters and the creation of the Ladies’ Mile of luxury retail establishments.
