Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust

36 Battery Pl.
Manhattan, NY 10280

description/

Few people know the origins of this Ukrainian melody that has become a theme song for Jewish celebrations around the world. This exhibit traces the song's hundred-year history from the Ukraine, through Europe and Asia, and finally to the United States where it remains a fixture.  Public programming in connection with the exhibit includes a Hava Nagila Hoedown on October 28 where visits can learn & perform the hora and other Israeli dances.
