November marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, an event in our nation’s history that was recounted mainly through photographs and television broadcasts. ICP commemorates the event—everything from the shooting of the president, to the funeral, to the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald—by featuring stills from bystander Abraham Zapruder’s famous footage of the assassination along with photographs, scrapbooks and souvenirs. The goal of the exhibition is to highlight how photography negotiates trauma and aids mourning. For more information, visit icp.org.
