Kara Walker is a titan of contemporary art—a MacArthur "genius" grant recipient best known for her life-size paper cutouts that explore the thornier questions of race, gender, power and identity in America. Walker will mount her first-ever large-scale public art exhibit at the former Domino Sugar factory on the Williamsburg waterfront—a site-specific piece which explores the often dark and exploitative history of sugar cultivation and processing in the Americas.
