Max Beckmann's ties to New York City remained strong until his death, he suffered a fatal heart attack en route to viewing his latest self-portrait which was on view at The Met in December 1950. This exhibit celebrates those ties and include fourteen paintings completed while living in New York from 1949-50 that range from self-portraits to mythical interiors and landscapes.
