Various Locations

Borrowing from the visual arts' tradition of the biennial, the New York Philharmonic Biennial spotlights new works by classical music's most exciting composers once every two years. Works by 74 composers from the United States and beyond have been selected for this year's affair—notably several performances of The Importance of Being Earnest, orchestral performances conducted by Alan Gilbert and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. Performances will take place at a variety of venues around the City, including Lincoln Center, the Whitney Museum of American Art and National Sawdust in Brooklyn.
