The Old Ball Game: New York Baseball, 1887–1977

The Met Fifth Avenue
Fifth Ave. at 82nd St.
Manhattan, NY 10028

Baseball has called New York City home since the New York Knickerbockers played the first organized games with modern-day rules in the mid-19th century. Among the teams featured in this showcase of nearly 400 baseball cards are the New York Metropolitans and the Brooklyn Bridegrooms as well as the Giants, Dodgers, Yankees, and Mets.  Showcased moments in baseball history include the 1927 New York Yankees' Murderers Row and Bobby Thompson's Shot Heard Round the World.
