Celebrate Sandra Cisneros, the legendary Chicana writer and author of The House on Mango Street. Cisneros' famous 1984 novel about a young Latina girl dealing with her urban upbringing has received critical acclaim and been translated into various languages and is studied in schools. From 12:30 to 2:30pm, listen to readings of Cisneros' works in both English and Spanish while taking in views of Staten Island and the Manhattan skyline from the North Mound in Freshkills Park.
