Arthur Miller’s 1953 anti-McCarthyism classic is again brought to life in this latest staging at the Walter Kerr Theater. Miller dramatizes the Salem witch trials, when pervasive fear-mongering ensured no one was safe from suspicion in a small Massachusetts town. Through the prism of such hysteria, Miller uncovers the fevered paranoia that drove the House Un-American Activities Committee’s ruthless search for communists. Tony Award winner Sophie Okonedo (A Raisin in the Sun) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) lead this star-filled ensemble cast. Acclaimed experimental musician Philip Glass scores this production helmed by groundbreaking director Ivo van Hove (Scenes from a Marriage, Angels in America).
