The Irish Repertory Theatre is reprising its successful 2009 production of The Emperor Jones—Eugene O’Neill’s play about African-American man Brutus Jones, who breaks out of prison in the United States, makes his way to a Caribbean island and subsequently sets himself up emperor. When the natives revolt after years of exploitation at the hands of their king, Jones is forced to face his own demons and past indiscretions on his path to redemption.
