description/

NYCGO Logo Whales: Giants of the Deep highlights the latest in international research on whales, dolphins, and porpoises in the context of whale biology and the history of whaling in New Zealand, where the exhibit originated. It includes rare specimens highlighted by a massive 58-foot-long fully articulated sperm whale skeleton; the massive skull of Andrewsarchus, a possible land-dwelling relative of whales; and life-size and scale models of whales common in the South Pacific. Videos examine the relationship between the people of the South Pacific and whales, including the stories of three generations of whale-riding traditions. For more information, visit amnh.org.
