Off-the-cuff, on-the-fly fashion is the name of the game here, where stylists, fashionistas and creative clotheshorses come together to create wearable art within a strict time limit. Modeled after old-school rap battles, eight unknown designers arrive at Style Wars with no ahead-of-time plan; contestants are forced to cut and hem materials and dress their models in five minutes, live and onstage. Judges regularly include big names (well, big downtown names, anyway—think Casey Spooner).
