The Hole

312 Bowery
Manhattan, NY 10012

A welcome addition to the downtown arts scene, The Hole takes its cues from the pop-art purveyors at Deitch Projects, which shuttered in 2010 when its founder, Jeffrey Deitch, moved west to become the director of Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Art. Thankfully, two of his former lieutenants, Kathy Grayson and Meghan Coleman, took their former boss' lessons to heart and opened this gallery on the Bowery to showcase eccentric and colorful artists. Expect exhibitions to feature works by renowned NYC artist Kenny Scharf, the psychedelia-obsessed collective Dearraindrop and mustachioed mixed-media performance artist Cody Critcheloe. Also be sure to check out Holey Books, a shop selling art books, magazines and other products located in the gallery's back room.
