  • In the race for hottest fall restaurant opening, we nominate Danny Meyer's new pizzeria and a spectacular New American restaurant from one of Meyer's former chefs, Floyd Cardoz. Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi, the duo who breathed new life into Little Italy with Parm and Torrisi Italian Specialties, just opened another downtown contender: a happening French spot that's the talk of the Lower East Side. Also generating a lot of buzz is a soon-to-open Mexican restaurant from one of the most acclaimed chefs on Earth.
