Public Affairs Division
NYC & Company's public affairs division is responsible for communications, government relations, and travel & tourism public relations for New York City's marketing, tourism & partnership organization. Working in tandem with 18 international offices serving 25 global markets, the team manages the New York City message to consumer and trade media as well as key stakeholders and government officials. Whether it's a new marketing initiative, a new office opening, a consumer travel feature with our five-borough messaging, a major event in the City or a public affairs issue that will affect the vitality of our City's visitor industry, our communications team is involved. The team is dedicated to spreading the positive image of New York City worldwide & growing tourism to the five boroughs.
Communications Department
The communications department promotes the work of NYC & Company to the mainstream consumer travel media as well as economic and business reporters. Whether amplifying a marketing program such as NYC Restaurant Week,™ to highlighting a citywide event such as the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, or through partnership campaigns such as Spiderman Week in NYC, the communications team is engaged. The team is committed to generating maximum earned media coverage for in-house marketing campaigns and programs, targeted to both visitors and residents alike. The communications team also handles the company's internal communications and crisis communications.
Government Relations Division
A key mandate of the government relations department is to work with local stakeholders and government officials to drive policy decisions that will impact the vitality of New York City's $30 billion travel and tourism industry. The team works with stakeholders and government representatives at the local, national and international levels. The team builds consensus among all stakeholders to ensure that the mission of NYC & Company is carried out.
Travel and Tourism Public Relations Department
The travel and tourism public relations department works closely with consumer travel, travel trade, and meetings with trade journalists from around the world to promote the City's five boroughs. The team regularly hosts international and domestic media (both individual and group) for on-the-ground press familiarization trips. Highlighted during these visits are authentic and off-the-beaten-path sights of New York City's five boroughs. Working directly with the city's hospitality industry, tourism development and NYC & Company's membership, the team highlights new products to the visiting media and showcases the manageability and navigability of the city through the eyes of future visitors. The department also develops travel story ideas for the visiting journalists and for those who cover the travel and tourism industry as their beat.
