This Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant makes everything from scratch, from salsas to corn tortillas to totopo chips that scoop up its chunky, spicy guacamole. Chef Cosme Aguilar is also involved in a cozy French bistro, Cafe Henri, two minutes away. At this contemporary, white-hued storefront he is partnered with his brother, Luis. Cosme, who hails from Chiapas, Mexico, trained in French restaurants—so there's painstaking technique in his mole sauces and braised lamb shank. There's also love, as many of the recipes come from his mother and aunts.
