Chomp Chomp is a playful name with a pedigree, an homage to the most popular cluster of food stalls in Singapore. Executive chef-owner Simpson Wong is from Malaysia and incorporates flavors from his travels in Southeast Asia and Europe at this lively West Village storefront. The open kitchen energetically turns out oyster omelets with garlic chives, chicken wings slathered in shrimp paste, grilled skate wrapped in banana leaves and stir-fried mushrooms in bean sauce with tofu, vegetables and glass noodles. The space is romantic—bathed in candlelight, with latticed door panels and a dark wood bar where exotic cocktails are fiercely shaken.
