Franny's is a mom-and-pop operation, except that Francine Stephens and Andrew Feinberg are culinary and hospitality royalty. Their tiny original space opened in 2004, which they outgrew almost immediately—there were long waits for dinner every night. In 2013, they moved to a much larger space nearby and were able to soup up the seasonal menu of pastas and salads, though the main event is still wood-fired, chewy, thin-crust pizza with top-notch ingredients. The roomy space is cleanly designed, a wall of firewood dividing the bar from the dining room. Adding to the experience are lovely cocktails, wine on tap, well-chosen craft beers and a wide selection of amari, bitter Italian digestifs that are increasingly popular.
