Owner Steven Cottrell has been behind the counter at Papa John's, a neighborhood restaurant in the truest sense of the word, since he was a teenager. The deli's sandwiches and platters are named after its various constituencies and customers, like the F.D.N.Y. sandwich (buffalo chicken and pepper jack cheese—a favorite with local firefighters), the egg-white Range omelet (popular with police officers heading to the nearby Rodman's Neck pistol range) or the McMan (a breaded chicken cutlet topped with bacon, mayo and American cheese), named for a loyal customer.
