A young, elbow-to-elbow crowd fills this dark, boisterous steakhouse and bar in the West Village. The whitewashed-brick dining room in back is a bit more sedate. Lesser-known cuts of meat (bavette, long-bone short rib) keep the prices wallet-friendly. The wine list also contains deals. Appetizers and sides offer whimsical takes on steakhouse classics, including browned, crunchy hush puppies filled with creamed spinach; Caesar salad with sweet Peppadew peppers; and thick-cut Nueske’s bacon jazzed up with peanut butter sauce and jalapeno jelly. The patty melt club burger, oozing with cheese, is another fantastic take on an old-fashioned favorite. Founder Michael Stillman (whose father, Alan, founded Smith & Wollensky and T.G.I. Friday’s) is behind the equally popular Quality Meats, Quality Italian and Park Avenue (Spring, Summer, Winter).
