This tribute to the big, soft German-style pretzel includes blown-up black-and-white photos of the old country, wooden communal tables and pretzels hanging like Christmas decorations in the windows. What also brightens the simple space are tantalizing stacks of pumpkin muffins, homemade donuts and cranberry-orange scones. The pretzels come in conventional flavors of sesame and poppy as well as jalapeño-cheddar. Sandwiches made with the bready braids feature ingredients like bresaola and arugula, and turkey with Gouda and apple, placing the bakeshop firmly in the New World.
