Ellis Island Tours with Tom Bernardin
Located in New York Harbor near the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island was once the gateway for millions of immigrants entering the United States. It now serves to commemorate America's past—a place where visitors can learn about patterns of immigration, explore the logistics of arriving to the US and trace their own ancestral roots, thanks to multimedia documentation at the island's American Family Immigration History Center. This tour, conducted by former National Park Service guide Tom Bernardin, traverses the grounds of Ellis Island and takes visitors inside the museum's Great Hall, where immigrants were examined upon entry here. Tours begin at Lower Manhattan's Castle Clinton, the departure point for the ferry to the island.
