Matisse: In Search of True Painting
December 4–March 17
Throughout his career, Henri Matisse painted the same subjects repeatedly, in an effort to perfect his art or, in his words, "to push further and deeper into true painting." With each series he made new discoveries, exploring different themes, colors and forms. Highlights of this Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition include Young Sailor I and II and Le Luxe I and II.
