Fall is a must-visit season in New York City. The crisp October air signals the very beginning of the holiday season and brings with it some memorable cool-weather events, many great for families. Taking place all month long, Archtober is a celebration of the marriage between architecture and design, with behind-the-scenes looks at some of the City's most famous buildings. Music fans will once again love the CMJ Music Festival and second-annual CBGB Festival. Other events to add to the list include the New York City Wine & Food Festival, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at the Brooklyn Museum and Open House New York. Halloween celebrations happen throughout the City during the month, culminating with the legendary Village Halloween Parade on the holiday itself. As an early kickoff to the holiday season, some of the City's skating rinks open in October, giving skaters a chance to take a spin on the ice before the crowds show up.
