New York City Ballet's Spring 2014 Season
April 29–June 8
Highlights of the 2014 spring season include a weeklong festival of 21st-century choreographers, with works by Alexi Ratmansky, Peter Martins and Christopher Wheeldon, among others. The major event, though, is the world premiere of the latest collaboration between the company's own Justin Peck and singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens. Peck solidified his standing among the highest ranks of 21st-century choreographers with Year of the Rabbit, which he premiered with City Ballet in fall 2012, at the tender age of 25. The new, as-yet-unnamed piece anchors the spring gala, on May 8, and will be performed later in the month (May 22, 29 and 31). The season closes with George Balanchine's full-length version of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
