Along with cooler temperatures, September brings a variety of compelling events to New York City. Start off the month with the Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, a monthlong celebration of music featuring performers of all ages. Football fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the season, and this month brings the home openers for the Jets and the Giants. Don't miss the BAM Next Wave Festival, an amalgamation of music, theater, opera and dance; or the DUMBO Arts Festival, which celebrates artistic expression through open studios and galleries, and artwork that spills out onto the streets. September is a big premiere month, with some of the City's foremost institutions—the New York Philharmonic, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet—kicking off their 2014–2015 seasons. And, of course, there's Fashion Week, during which designers show their spring collections, and the City celebrates in stylish ways.
