A Time to Kill
Lawyer-turned-bestselling-author John Grisham's first book, A Time to Kill, is also the first of his crime dramas to become a Broadway play. Musical-comedy master Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Curtains) will show his serious side in this story of a young crusading Southern lawyer who takes on the case of a black man accused of killing two white racists who raped his 10-year-old daughter. Sebastian Arcelus, lead in the musical Elf, takes on the role of the lawyer, and acclaimed classical theater actor John Douglas Thompson plays the defendant. Patrick Page, formerly the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, plays the district attorney, while Picket Fences and Brothers & Sisters star Tom Skerritt makes his Broadway debut as Arcelus' mentor.
Golden Theatre, 252 W. 45th St. Previews start September 28; opens October 20.
